Alyssa Hooks, Public Forum Instructor

Alyssa has been involved in forensics for six years, starting her freshman year of high school at Barbers Hill High School in Mont Belvieu, Texas. She is a rising junior at the University of Arkansas-Monticello, where she is finishing a degree in communications, as well as holding a position on their IPDA debate team. With her college degree, she plans on coaching debate and becoming a communications professor. In high school, Alyssa did LD and Domestic Extemp, qualifying for TFA State her junior and senior year. In college, Alyssa was half of the second place winning Team IPDA season long winners and tied for team season long speaker. When Alyssa started coaching her first year out, she realized the importance of working hard, even from a coach’s perspective. In that she coached kids in LD and PF to the TOC and NSDA Nationals, as well as policy teams to TFA and UIL State elims. Alyssa believes that debate is a wonderful place for individuals to become advocates for themselves and the causes they believe in, as well as understand the importance of communication skills and rhetoric. She is thrilled to be at SNFI and help students grow and become the best debaters they can be!
